A RECIPE BOOK OF WELL-BEING
Following on from the success of the wonderful PHENOMENAL WOMEN project
verd de gris have been given the opportunity to develop an exciting new
project with Calderdale Womens Centre celebrating women of all ages and
backgrounds with the theme of well-being for women. The project is funded
by Community Foundation for Calderdale, Calderdale MBC Cultural Grants and the Arts Council of England.

We are looking for contributions from as many women as possible, which will
lead to the production of a publication celebrating women's well-being, health and creativity to be distributed nationally. There will also be a commission of a permanent piece of artwork for the Centre, informed and inspired by the work and funded by the Arts Council of England.

So please let us know - WHAT IS YOUR RECIPE FOR WELL-BEING?

Cherie Blair has already given us hers and we would love to hear from as
many women as possible.

Examples of recipes from women so far include:

Long walks on the moor; a glass of wine and a hot steamy bath
My recipe is to smile at the sky
Listening to Aretha Franklin - very loud!
Allow myself to do nothing - staring out of the window, and switching off for a while
Bubble bath
Walking on the wet grass with bare feet
Go up onto the moor with the kids and lie on our backs on top of a grassy hill, look at the clouds and just chat - rambling with the clouds!

Once we have gathered together thoughts and ideas, a group of women
at the Centre will help us design artwork and illustrations for the book as the participatory element of the project.

Hope you can help!

Help with judging selection for exhibition

BlindArt is a charity that organises exhibitions and other art events with the
aim of encouraging the involvement of visually impaired people in the visual arts.
We are currently working towards our second annual exhibition and are looking for
someone to help out during our judging selection in March with a view to perhaps
getting involved again with the exhibition in September. The Judging Process
runs from Friday 24th March to 4th April 2006, and the exhibition runs from the 14th
September to the 8th October 2006.

We would prefer someone who comes from an arts background and has experience of
dealing with artists, but strong customer service skills, a good phone manner,
flexibility, diplomacy, confidentially and reliability are also priorities. You
would be based in our office in central London but would also be expected to go
to the selection venue and, during exhibition, attend the Gallery.  We need someone
who can run around and get coffee and supplies if we need them.

This is a great opportunity to see how an art exhibition is put together and
would be invaluable experience for anyone hoping to get involved in exhibitions
administration or curatorship.

If you are interested and these dates are suitable for you, please send your
C.V. with 2 recent referees that we can contact to mailto:isadora@blindart.net
or alternatively to BlindArt, P. O. Box 50113, London SW1X 9EY.

Intersection: approaching collaborative practice in craft and design

http://www.artquest.org.uk/intersection/index.html

This event is designed to appeal to craft and design practitioners, curators, commissioners, academics, arts administrators, arts
educationalists and creative industries specialists and  who want to hear first hand from their peers about the critical, conceptual and
practical challenges that arise when working as collaborators in a variety of settings.

Artquest warmly welcomes delegates to this national / international conference, that we hope will be a useful networking event and a contribution to critical debate within the field of applied art and design.

Overview
Why do craftspeople and designers collaborate with professionals working in other fields? Is there such a thing as a truly democratic
collaboration? How does working in partnership affect authorship and control of intellectual property rights, commercial and cultural values? What ethical factors need to be considered if a project is trans-national or cross-cultural? Can collaboration offer new research or creative possibilities, or new markets for practitioners?

Intersection will be accompanied by Junction Box - featuring information and advice about a wide range of professional development resources and services tailored to the needs of artists, craftspeople and designers.

For further information including speakers biographies and abstracts please visit: http://www.artquest.org.uk/intersection.

Ticket information
The ticket price includes lunch, refreshments and an evening reception. Full rate delegate £50; unemployed delegate £20; disabled delegate £20. (Free places are available to any carer accompanying a registered disabled delegate.)

Presenting an installation under the theme of 'What does it mean to be a woman today?'™ and is looking for female volunteers to work with artist Tereza Araujo in the creative process of the installation.

8 March 2006  International Women's Day Why Celebrate?

More than just celebrating ordinary women as makers of history, we are looking to encourage people to think in a creative manner without losing the social-political thread of how we value women and how much has that changed the role of  women in our current society.
The research, the inquiry, the project initially interviewed 100 view points (50 men and 50 women).
The next phase its where you will be involved as a volunteer, for a whole day, you will be looking at 'what does it mean to be a woman today?'™ and together with Tereza Araujo you will be developing  the final product/response triggered by the process.
Our aim is to stimulate a new way of seeing women and encouraging people to have positive attitudes to, and treatment of, women.

The project is lead by Tereza Araujo.  Tereza is an award winning artist and renowned Brazilian performer; specialist in community theatre. Tereza has also worked with Augusto Boal in her native city of Salvador-Brazil.  She will be leading the group with cross arts community techniques which unify artists from different art form to empower a section of the community in creating an art installation.

This is a great opportunity to experience an innovative approach to the celebration/explorations of International Women's Week and creation of an art installation

If you are interested in taking part, please e-mail us at Womensweek@stonecrabs.co.uk Telling us your answer to 'what is to be a woman today?'™ And how would you contribute to the installation.

Call for Artists/Writers to take part in an Art project.
This is an organic site that will grow and develop as we interacted with it.
The idea behind this project is a realisation that as a society we are becoming
more and more isolated, and withdrawn.  The government have got in right in some
respects we all need to be nicer to each other.

The eventual aim is to organise an exhibition of letters, which will document this
unique social discourse, and allow us to recognise that we aren't alone in feeling
alone.
